Hi,

I've currently got a 'Marzocchi' Suntour? Mz-3 fork on my 2006 Lavadome http://www.konabikes.co.uk/2k6bikes/lava_dome_2k6.php . I really enjoy riding this bike but I'd like to upgrade to a 'better shock' as current one is a little bouncy on hills and sometimes gives some loopy rebound. Maybe it needs adjusting?

What would be a good budget xc shock? (weigh about 10stone)

Oh and does anyone have any experience of the Kona P2 rigid fork ?

Local bike shock is Marzocchi tied, and they recommended the Marzocchi MX Pro 100mm.

edit: tried to amend title shock to fork

Kind regards,

Ashley.

I've used the P2. It's fine and cheap, but it' a rigid fork. I'd prefer no suspension to crappy suspension personally (what you have now) but it depends on what you want. A Tora 318 would not be light but would be a vast improvement over what you have now and could be had for around 20 I bet.

Well, the OP was apparently asking about forks. Unless there is a rigid Kona P2 shock. lol.

I have a P2, never used it...it's extremely heavy. Nearly as heavy as an old Jett/Indy type RS fork.

Apologies for the error re shocks. I'm quite keen on the marzocchi MX pro but there seems to be a few variants.

What is the ETA version ?

Marzocchi MX pro
Marzocchi MX pro Lo
marzocchi MX pro ETA

The ETA version is the best variant for XC riding. ETA is a propietary Marzocchi system that replaces lockout leaving 30mm of travel for small bump absorption. I ride one with ETA and couldn't be happier.
