So I am finally visiting Portland (I have romanticized picture of a biker's heaven) in October to see Sigur Ros. We're hoping to do the trip carless. Wondering if any of you have tips on places to stay, where to rent a bike, and what shops to visit.

You should check out A Better Cycle while you're there. Those guys build good bikes and have a great attitude. You should also check out Zoobomb on Sunday nights. ..and don't forget to go to the Donut shop and have a satanic Donut. As far as food goes, I like Don Pancho's on Alberta somewhere around 19th, and there's a good Thai place up there as well (at like 21st?)
