Northern California - The Offical Group ride thread

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've been thinking about making this thread for sometime. And with this thread over stickies popping up I figured now was the time.
Recently I have been wanting to find a riding buddy/s to go riding with on a daily/weekly basis. I think for the most part a lot of us find ourselves alone on our daily/weekend rides, and from personal experience I know that riding in a group or with someone is far more enjoyable and generally a better work out.
I propose this thread, and that when posting about a ride simply state what type of ride you want, the distance, the approximate time, the area you live in and how fast you want the ride to be. Then let the meeting locations and details work themselves out in posts or PM's. Preferably posts, after all this is a social thread.

This sounds like a job for the regional forum.

It sure does.
Maybe I'm being a cynic, but I think the actual match between riders is going to be a small percentage of possible readers. Narrowing down the geographic location of the population would help.

Agreed - Regional discussions is the best place for this type of post.
I've managed to find a couple riding partners through the NE forum. I'm sure you won't have any problem at all finding someone to ride with in the Bay Area.
Good luck!

We do a great job of discussing and finding group rides in the regional forums. Kind of why they are there.
Does anyone else think this would be better in the regional forums?
I think this would fit better in the regional forums...
Probably should be in the regional forums.

I agree with me too!
Hahaha, guy was trying to get a sticky and everyone piled on him that it was in the wrong forum. Priceless :thumb:

I thought this was the Northern California forum. Where was this posted initially?
By the way, I think I can join you for the ride, what do you consider "moderate"?

What start location? 11ish is kinda late (for me at least).
The San Francisco area is pretty big and could include Marin and north-to-mid Peninsula.

11ish .... perfect for Marco ... but that's almost half a day wasted. I prefer an earlier start, like 8 or 9. But then again, I'm not in SF.

I could start earlier, maybe 9 or 10 and i'm up for route suggestions, somewhere in the Marin county area starting in SF.
Moderate to me is um not fast but not slow?
The reason i started the thread in the road cycling forum was because after looking around BF i though there wasn't a forum for this type of topic. ya silly that i should think so. The problem was i didn't backout far enough, clicking on the second BF button not the first. so whatever.
