Northern California - Sacramento to Colfax

I will be riding from Sacramento to Colfax and need a route. I've checked bikely.com and I saw a couple of routes that went along the American River bikeway to Folsom and then up Auburn Folsom road. Once in Auburn, it is frontage roads to Colfax.

Any other ideas?

One is to download the route from the Auburn Century (http://www.auburncentury.com/outlaw.html). It quick and easy, but it's kinda boring.

Here's a favorite of mine that starts in Newcastle. I love this route!!

From Newcastle Park-n-Ride go North on Newcastle Rd over Fwy
R/T: Old State hwy
R/T: Taylor Rd
Continue on Ophir Rd
L/T: Lozanos Rd - Nice downhill section. At bottom turn right
R/T:Bald Hill (Road may be called Sunset Lane)
L/T: Bald Hill
Continue this climb all the way up. Eventually you will come to a "T" Stay right on Bald Hill. Then further up Bald Hill will veer right. Take that right
L/T: Mt. Vernon Rd Eventually Mt Vernon will "T" into Atwood on your right and Mt. Vernon on your left
L/T: Mt Vernon Eventually Mt Vernon will "T" into Joeger Rd on your right and Mt Vernon on your left.
R/T: Joeger Rd Follow to the next "T"
L/T: Bell Rd
R/T: Lone Star Rd
Cross Hwy 49 Stay on Lone Star. (Watch out, traffic doesn't stop!)
R/T: Winding Way
R/T: Emma Ln (This will dead end to a small trail to the next road)
L/T: Stanley Dr
L/T: Christian Valley Rd
L/T: Mary Ln (Fantastic Hill!)
L/T: McElroy Rd
R/T: Meadow Vista Rd
L/T: Placer Hills Rd (follow this road to Colfax)
Placer Hills Rd turns into Tokayana Way Stay on this road
R/T: Rising Sun Rd into Church Street.
