so i'm considering doing the bay to bay multiple sclerosis ride. here's the website: http://www.biketofinishms.com/

the only problem is the damn ride is a wee bit expensive, what with the $60 registration, $20 bus, plus lodging that is not included.

does anybody have a discount code for registration that they'd be willing to offer to my broke-ass?

I'll give you a route slip for $25. If you get back to me in the next 48 hours, I'll throw in a bottle of water and a Clif bar.

There is not a discount code for registration or the bus ride back... but you can camp out at Carlsbad Beach (but not Oceanside's beach cause Grumpy Pig will throw you away with the trash :) ) to reduce the overall finacial impact.

You could also just add the money for the event and logding into your fundraising minimums and have other people pay for you to ride...

and if you do decide to do it feel free to join my team Lloyd's Lagers

Most teams are pretty open and don't require you to know people or anything.

Or if anybody wants to do some long traning rides in the afternoon after 4 or anytime on the weekends let me know ASAP. So far the longest I have done is 60 and before that was only 30. So I need a lot more training. I do about 50 to 100 a week but I need a buddy to motivate me to extend my rides or else I might be in trouble come October.

BTW, I live in Carlsbad less than 2 miles from the beach of Cannon. (archstone apts. specifically)

Go for the longer rides. $80 / 150 miles = ~ $0.55 per mile. About what it would cost to drive the distance. A commercial touring company would charge a lot more. Besides an unknown amount of the money goes to the "Cause".

really? i was told there was a discount code that waives the registration fee by someone who answered the phone at the MS Society, but that it was only given to those who raised the highest amount of funds in previous years events.

That is true, if you are a 'Top Fundraiser' then you have the fees waived for entrance into the following year's event. The bus ride back still costs money, as does the hotel.

This tactic is used primarily to bring the top fundraisers back to the event year after year. I also know that a report is run to check the registered riders that use the feature against the top fundraisers of the previous year.
Yeah, I know a little bit about this event and this MS Society chapter...
