Got back from our Aug bike tour in Nova Scotia,
my teenage son says he wants a new road type bike to replace his MTN bike morphed to tourer.
Mom and Dad are fine with this, except he has to ride a few more bikes to get a better feel of what he might want. He (we) look at and ride some bikes, he likes a cross bike. Dad says ride his CrossCheck
for a while. After a while teenage son says he really likes the CrossCheck. So on Aug 13, Dad, prints the Cross Check complete page from Surly web site. MSRP indicated on 8/13 print out was $930. Well the printout got slobbered up sitting on the bathroom reading rack, so on Aug 18 Dad reprints the complete page from the Surly web site. MSRP is now $1050. WOW Surly what a hike in 5 days ?? Didn't see any change in specs.

Most, if not all, bikes are going up in price this year due to increased demand, the weak dollar, and high energy costs.

Canadian prices came down this year due to a currency parity adjustment. It is now only $200 more expensive than American prices, at $1250.

A Canadian dollar is 95 cents US as of today.

Quit complaining.

JensonUSA (http://www.jensonusa.com/store/sub/155-Roadcyclocross.aspx) still sell it for 930, and chances are you can order one for this price from an LBS.

Surly publicised the fact that all their bikes would be going up in price on their blog. It's been planned for a lot longer than five days

If you look a bit closer, most of the sizes are "unavailable" at this price.
