I just got a new road bike. I have been riding a MTB with the same saddle for about 7 years. So, now I am trying to get used to, new hand positions, a new riding position (less upright), different cranks, different handling, and a new saddle all at the same time.

I was thinking about putting my MTB saddle (WTB SST) on the new roadie until I got acclimated to the rest of the differences. Is this an unforgivable sin, or a good idea? The new saddle is the stock Litespeed with Ti rails. It is softer than the WTB and has a cutout in the middle of the underside, but not in the padding. Right now it hurts, but no numbness. I only have about 60 miles on it.

I have about a month to get ready for a century.

I would rather not plonk the $$$ down for another saddle right now if I don't need to.

Hope everything's cool with your new Litespeed. I'll be out there this Sat (despite my hernia....doc says go ride). I'll finally be able to check out your new rig if I see ya.

I am glad to hear that you can ride. I'll be there.

I am loving the Litespeed. I still can't believe that I have one. I am just not sure about the saddle. Go with my old favorite, try to get used to the new one, or get a Brooks, and have to get used to that too?

See you Saturday.

I still got my old 10 yr old trusted Flite saddle on my old Litespeed but that's starting to fall apart. When time comes to replace it, it'll be another B17....but the narrow version. I seem to easily adapt to both standard and narrow versions of Brooks.

If you're even entertaining the idea of getting a Brooks, I highly recommend following through. The Team Pro works well on a road bike position (handlebars below saddle), or perhaps a Swift if you want something a bit slimmer.

Persons-Majestic Company (http://www.permaco.com/) still has a sale going on at the moment (and has pretty low prices all the time).

Or try Wallingford Bike (http://www.wallbike.com/). Prices are a bit higher, but they have a 6 month unconditional return policy on all Brooks saddles they sell, so if you really don't like it you can always return it for a refund!
