All right everyone, let's see those roses, dahlias, runner beans, pumpkins, or whatever other plants or flowers you've been admiring the last week or so.

The contest is open to anyone who does not currently have a red star*. The contest will close on September 1st, at 7.00 pm Pacific Daylight Savings Time.

Photos should be the work of the poster...

One entry per member, please.

East Hill

*All right, open to all members, and those already with a red star may give to the member of his or her choice :D .

This would be far more socially acceptable than what I had in mind. (http://www.jockcoats.org.uk/files/u1/Cannabis_sativa.jpg)

I have to go into the desert and go plant searching now. There is a lot of cacti here that's all I can think of.

Can it be open to donating members as well? If someone who already has a red star wins, they get to choose who to give the star to? I want to take pics of flowers, too! :D

You can play--I edited my rules so that members with a red star can enter, and donate a star should they win :D .

I don't know about switching photos...let me think that over :thumb: .

I took a day off my bike on Saturday to go for a hike with my son and these are the "plants" we see...

http://i37.tinypic.com/28soq52.jpg

...then we used this plant to get across the river as the bridge was washed out last winter...

I've got time yet to find a flower to photograph. The bulbs should be out by now or maybe I can find some Wintersweet in flower. Now if it would just stop raining on the weekends I could go take some photos.

I has a couple of photos of flowers already but am holding off until I can see if I can take some better ones.

Flag it, it's never going to stop raining here on the weekends.:(

I'll just have to use this one that I took a couple of weeks ago while walking around at lunch on a rare fine day.

Edit: Strictly speaking this is an end of winter flower.

I know, I know! I have a red star (thanks EH), but so do a few others (BBM & Stacey at least). And the flowers are out of focus. But that pesky red bike in the foreground kept my camera from focusing on the NH wildflowers in background.

As a red star holder, I believe you can win and then pass the star along to a member of your choice.

Best of Luck.

p. a. p. Not really (but nice of you to say that :))….actually I’ve been somewhat obsessed this last week about getting an image into this thread. Just hoping Fuzzy gets a star. :thumb:

Okay, so I've already got the red star and this isn't quite of flowers or any living plant, but I still like it.

On a plant related note, I also took possession of a Crown of Thorns which really puts the medieval practice of "putting one to the question" into clear perspective.

I can see why people would confess to damn near anything before any question was asked.

The "plants in a jar" are a Pygmy Amazon Sword plant (aquatic) that I placed in the jar about 12 years ago and only opened twice to top off with aquarium water! I think its pretty cool :D
