If you could sit out a tropical storm would you?

If I leave before lunch I can be in St. Simons before Fay hits.
She is supposed to have 30-45mph winds or so by then.

I am not the sensible one to ask but I love storms and stuff, even like cycling in them. Go for it.

I planning to do it on Thursday. Let you know how it goes, but I have done this many times. Surf in the middle of one in the late 70's, that was pretty stupid I have to admit now, but I was 14 and it seemed like the thing to do. Once the cops let me go, a bunch of us got together and played football at the high school. My mom had to pick me up twice at the cop station. She was not pleased with me that day.

Only if there are umbrella hats.

30 to 45 mph winds is wussy stuff

Personally if I felt like my property was properly taken care of, etc and, more importantly, didn't have any family around or in danger -- I'd do it.

I love storms - and yes this northerner has had some 50-70 mph winds up here (including some sort of funnel thing that came down and traveled down between the garages of our street and took down trees and power lines).

If I were on my own or with people I knew, I'd do it.

Ok, I have to ask what the big deal is about Fay. 30 mph winds are pretty common in Oklahoma on clear days. Common T-storms can easily drop 1 to 6 inches of rain in a couple of hours and have 70 to 80 mph winds. Now I know there have been serious hurricanes before but Fay really seems minor.

I've ridden out many of them. 30-45 is nothing... just don't ride your high profile wheels. :lol:

Fay has been a joke. I live in Orlando and, well, we've hardly had any rain. Just a bit of a breeze for once, which is nice. Work was closed yesterday, due to its potential, but i ended up spending most of the day in a pool, since it was pretty nice out. Looks like its completely avoiding Orlando too. I was at least hoping for something exciting to watch (never been in a hurricane before really).

Having seen firsthand what Katrina, Rita, and Andrew did, If I lived on the coast, hell no.
You live in Georgia(I think), I would not worry too much. 30-40mph winds are no big deal.

Allison was ugly. It just parked itself over the west side of the city and kept bringing in more water from the Gulf. I'm in one of the parts of town that was getting the snot slapped out of it one night. The water was almost in my back door and three quarters of the way up the yard in front. Pretty sleepless night, as I was expecting to have to do what I could to keep it out.

I think I would do it. I really like storms, but hate driving in rain.

Is Fay still a joke? I hope y'all are OK in FL. I already hear of Fay being compared to Allison, the storm I mentioned earlier in this thread. Little wind, but much rain, from a slow-moving storm that just won't leave.

In Orlando we've had 24+ Hours Straight of Rain. Its really not all that heavy and I haven't noticed any flooding, even in parts that do get flooded in the afternoon downpours we get. If it were to get heavier, then we'd might be in trouble. I'm not complaining though, it sure beats the heat. Not really all that windy either.

Along the coast they've got 30 Inches of Rain. Not nearly as bad here inland.
