measure your shoulders. get the closest to that width.

It's really personal preference. For example I prefer a 42cm bar while a friend who is smaller than me prefers a 44cm bar. Try a few friend's bikes and see what feels right for you.

measure your shoulders. get the closest to that width.

+1 choice of bars is based on how wide you are, not how tall.

Also, narrower is more aerodynamic; wider is more comfortable and gives better leverage for tight maneuvers. You might adjust a couple cm based on that.

i have wide shoulders and monkey arms so i use fairly wide ones, but most of where i ride is fairly light traffic, so i dont need them very narrrow, but hold up a couple of different sizes and see which fits your width best
