Has anyone done "America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride" in Lake Tahoe? It is the first weekend of June. Any veterans of this event out there? Recommendations for training for it? I know there is an 8 mile gradual grade with a 1000 ft elevation change. I'm not concerned about the climb itself; it is acclimating to the elevation. The ride starts out at 6300 ft. above sea level! I live near sea level! Your thoughts?

I rode around Lake Tahoe I think it was about 50 or 60 miles around and was not a very hard ride. As I remember the climbs were not hard at all. I live in the S.F. bay area and it is almost sea level. I drove up the same day that I rode around. The only thing that I didn't like about the ride ,there were a lot of tour busses on the road.

if you can get there a few days earlier do some hill climbs or even hike some mountains going higher each day. It should break you in. 10000 ft is pretty high just to blast up from sea level imo...
I was thinking of doing it for Team in Training... but it just doesn't work with my schedule this year..... Beautiful area though....
