I'm hoping to go watch the Tour this year, only for a couple of days- i really want to watch the TT from L'Alpe D'huez- Has anyone done this before, and if so have any advice on how to do it- ie what is the nearest to airport to fly into, how far then to l'alpe d'huez, camping arrangments etc- how many days previous would i need to arrive ,to get a camping spot at the top
any advice appreciated

Get there 2-3 days ahead of time and pitch a tent.
Seriously.

yes i would say 2 days suffient. the problem will be finding accomodation. I had a couple of friends that watched the Tour from D'Huez and they said it was an incredible experience, good luck!

I'm going. I am staying at L2A and will be there for a week riding the big climbs. You can fly to Lyon or to Geneve. You can really fly anywhere if you are willing to take the train. Your biggest problem will be getting up the Alpe. It gets crowded and you need to be there a couple days ahead of time.
I'll look for you all there...I am going to Spain and then traveling to catch a few stages of Le Tour...especially the Alpe stage. I can't wait to see Tyler take the Yellow Jersey there....hehe
