any ideas on how to clean the rust off my trek 830 there is some on the wheels and some metal parts looking for what kind of cleaner and what kind of brush or pad to use maybe any helpful links on this

Dremel with wire-brush works great for small spots and hard-to-get-at spots.

For chrome I always use the scratchy side of a sponge. The rust flies right off.

I would substitute Scotchbrite pads for the steel wool, much easier on the hands. They also work great for cleaning rim brake surfaces, jam a chunk between brake pads and rim, rotate the wheel a few times by hand.

I’ve had good success with bronze wool or brass brushes, or if part can be soaked then citric acid has worked.

For painted metal, common Chlorine bleach -- liquid pool chlorine is stronger but the same chemical.

For bare or Chrome metal, use rust remover.
