Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I read a book today titled "Heft on Wheels" by Mike Magnuson. I stumpled across it at the library and from the minute I picked it up I couldn't put it down. I read it from cover to cover this afternoon. The story is similar to many here. His weight gets to around 265 and he eventually gets to 175. He a pack a day smoker or more and an alcoholic. I found this story encouraging like many of the others here. I don't often recommend books, but if you can find this at the library it is worth the read for the most part. Might be book worth reading this winter while you are stuck on the trainer:p

Awesome book! Yeah, I think I read it in one sitting or something ridiculous like that.

Have you seen the review (professional not user) on Amazon or BN? F'ing brutal. I laughed out loud. Critics are hilarious.
Luckily, I put no stock in people with jobs that don't actually produce anything of value and want to read it anyway.

Mike was one of the contributing reporters for Bicycling magazine (back when I had a subscription, about 3 years ago), and talked about his weight loss in there as well. I think I'll look that one up. Thanks for the info.
