General Cycling Discussion - Did you get any neat bike stuff for Christmas?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What neat bike stuff did you get for Christmas?
I just got (on Christmas Eve) a Da Zound rechargeable bicycle horn.
Zowie, Batman, that horn really makes some noise! Just for a test, I brought it outside and blew it off. My family inside the house said it almost made them jump out of their skin.
Whoa, man, how did I live without it for so long. I can't wait to try it out on a motor car.
Oh boy, oh boy, it's not even Christmas yet. What might be under the tree waiting for me in the morning??

My wife and I are both getting trainers. I have mine (which will become hers). I bought the other one from a member of this group. ALso, I got a whole bunch (4 pair) of Specialized riding gloves on sale from Nashbar. Hey, you can't have too many riding gloves, can you? I now am about 7 pair ahead, but I love this glove, and am planning in riding for at least 30 more years, when I will be 92. So, got to stock up while I can.:)

I got a bunch of bike stuff for Christmas.
-Wheel Building Video
-A 1948 Italian movie called The Bike Thief
-A Hex Key set
-Timbuk 2 messenger bag
-Rain pants from Red Ledge
-Head Band ear warmers that fits very well under my helmet.
-A board game called The Great Victorian Bike Race
I'll be going to my parents house in a few hours to open more presents. Perhaps I'll get more bicycle goodies...:D

I didn't get any cool stuff, as such. I'm really particular about my gear, so if someone bought something, it would probably be wrong. Besides, I work at a shop, so I get a lot more bang for my buck than someone else would.
That being said, I got $250, with the stipulation that I used it to buy gear that I've been lusting after.
Merry Christmas everyone!

I saw a couple of bikes at the thrift shop. I'll be picking them up, if they haven't already been snatched away...
One is a "Matsui" (sp?), about 20 years old, made in Japan by Nissan. 10 speed Suntour components, lugged frame, not on the heavy side. Pretty good for $15.
Another is a no-name brand ladies 3-speed internally geared hub, fenders intact, all working well.
Just for fun! :D

I picked up 3 pairs. I like them a lot and you can't beat the price.
Mrs. Santa gave me a new saddle (that I think I'll return and swap for another model), an HRM (got it a few weeks ago), and Mavic Open Pro wheels.
I went riding today to try everything out and only saw two other riders. Either most of the cyclists around here didn't get any new bike stuff , or they're all a bunch of weenies and thought it was too cold. :( The temperature was 40°F when I left home.

I got a head set wrench, and a pin set wrench(?) so I can adjust the chain on the tandem. I also got some Performance century shorts to try out. Also a new set of handlebars, these are an ergo design.....they're already on the Aegis!

A HRM to improve my training for "Alma Mater to Mater"
A Vaude Dash 10 hydration pack for "AMM"
A new Terry Cite saddle to replace uncomfy one on my MTB
30 Bicycle Tours in Wisconsin to help research the connection between the Military Ridge Trail & Co. Hwy A for "AMM"
I am stoked!
I bought my father-in-law a 2001 Gary Fisher Marlin for christmas. While I was in the store buying the bike I was looking at some Kona Primo full finger gloves. One the owners, Todd said thanks for buying the bike, Merry Christmas and gave the gloves. I thought that was really cool. If any of you guys are ever in Gainesville Fl, go to Spin Cycle, one of the best bike shops in the country. Oh yea he also knocked $100.00 off the bike since it was a 2001!
I got a Giro Pneumo helmet.
It's something that I would never have bought for myself but will easily accept!
I must have been good this year!

Was someone telling you that many hands make light work? The gloves must be for night riding!

My Christmas present was a Lemond Buenos Aires. Only had a few minutes to tool around the neighborhood today, but it is sweet. Love the STI shifting. Also got shoes (first time with clipless pedals), Specialized gloves (not from Nashbar), a pair of flashy socks with American flags on the sides. I didn't fall over trying to unclip. I guess I will have to wait for tomorrow for that. Also have to keep an eye on my son. I found him trying on my new shoes this afternoon. He could be dangerous.

My wife gave me a new handlebar bag. Pretty nice. Can be converted to a fanny pack, when detached from the handlebar. Also, cycle maps from Adventure Cycling. The entire packet to cross the Pony Express route. San Francisco to Cedar City, Utah. My next tour. And Lobster gloves for cold, wet weather riding.

You will love that bike. I am sitting here in my basement office looking at my BA mounted on my trainer. WOW does it look out of place there. Like a wild stallion tethered up in a corral.
Maybe the ice will melt, the temp will get a bit warmer, and I can get out for a ride??

WOW!!!!!! Doug, you hit the jackpot!!!! Don't be too concerned about falling, you WILL and it WILL be in a spot where a lot of people will witness the magnificent deed! Happens to all of us, and it usually involves a spot sign or stop light.
The two times I fell were both at busy intersections. Visions of "Laugh-in" crossed my mind during the slow motion falls!

Gus, you need to read the post again. I was not the one who got the Lemond BA, it was the previous poster. Not that I would not take a new BA if given to me. I would jump at it. Can you ride two BA's at the same time??:)
I was only bemoaning the fact that my BA was sitting in my trainer with a VERY forlorn look, saying, "Get me out of this prison." (Do others of you talk with your bikes?)

Sorry. I sure missed on that one!! I may need to re-think my view of what age is elderly! I may have arrived early! I'll edit it so it looks like I'm talking with the right person.
Now for the really sad part. I was supposed to be off work today (and therefore putting some serious miles on the new bike), but one of our servers blew up last night and I had to come into work. Sigh!!!

Got myself a Polar A1 HRM, Crank Bros. Power pump, Stuy Tuff chainstay protector, and will get a pair of bibs soon.
I love Christmas! Gives me reason to buy myself cycling gear.
I got a Pearl Izumi earwarmer, some CamelBak accesories, and a USPS team cycling cap.
Klein, I sure hope you get that horn for your tricycle working soon!!! :D
Though I had to buy myself bike stuff this Christmas, I got a 30-40% discount on all my new things because my mother knows a guy who owns a bike shop. :) Guess I'll be visiting her more often.
Since I am new to biking, I was amazed at how much better it was with winter tights, bike shorts, and properly pumped up tires. Now I just need to buy some gloves. Today I start my New Years lunch-time biking resolution. Wish me luck!

I see you're working overtime Joe ;) (cleanup duty that is) I'm off to get another rail for my roof rack. Riding by myself can get to be a drag sometimes. There's lots of rain and mud to go play in right now so I have an excuse to get me some warm clothing while I'm at it. I always buy myself the nicest gifts...:D
You'll like that little Alien Joe....
