...should I just file it down? I'm assuming it would be no problem I just wanted to make sure there isn't an easy alternative like buying an old-school narrower brake nut? The frame is a 1987 Schwinn World Sport and I bought a new modern brake for it. The actual part you screw on to fits fine into the hole, it's just the nut that slides into the back side of the fork that is way too narrow. I compared to my modern road bike and the hole in the back is the proper width (wider than this frame's). Thanks in advance.
