Hello,
I moved to Toronto a few years ago and live in the beach. I think I have covered every inch of the MUP and the Tommy Thompson park. I am looking for a road route that I can maintain higher speeds on. I ride mostly at night. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have you tried the Don and Humber trail systems? The Don trails will take you all the way up to Lawrence, at which point the roads become much less congested. I suggest you head up towards Steeles and beyond.

I commute 46km round trip from the east side of North York to the west side of downtown. I'm not aware of any fast downtown routes.

You could hook up with the Beaches Cycling Club:

http://beachescyclingclub.blogspot.com

They do several evening rides per week. Or you could just check out the routes on their site.

The Don routes have a 20 km/hr max speed on them. I strongly suggest maintaining that limit, especially at night, because there are a lot of other users on them.

Have you tried the Leslie St. Spit? Few speed bumps but you no traffic (after 5pm) and road is in ok shape.

There are the roads around the docks -- head down toward Cherry Beach, and then turn left at the first or second road. Almost empty roads, and smooth pavement.

The OP has tried the Leslie St. Spit. It's Tommy Thompson park.
Boudicca is talking about Commissioners St. It is indeed mostly empty, although it's not very long and pretty drab.

Commissioners Street (and the parallel street to it) is seriously drab, and they can be smelly, depending on the wind direction. But they have the advantage of being close to the Beach. I was under the impression the OP just wanted somewhere he could ride fast with little traffic.
