Oct 11+12, and Oct 18+19. Anyone been to either or both? I am looking for advice for camping, good places to eat, etc. Do they have good vendors, swap meets? Also, is there good riding in the Ocal National Forest? There are a few rail trails in the area, anyway. It should make a good riding vacation, hitting both festivals and wandering around in between. There's always Disney, Daytona, etc.

Most likely I will be riding the Horse Farm 100. It is a nostalgia thing. I'll probably do it on my commuter bike as I have convinced a friend to do it and he has never ridden that far before.

The Gainesville Bike Fest is sponsored by the GCC (http://www.gccfla.org). It's a nice couple of rides, with the horse farm being one of the prettier locales in North Florida. One of the nice things about these rides, compared to rides like the Horrible Hundred, is that there's still not much development outside of Gainesville, so the rides tend to have less traffic and be more scenic.

Because of UF, there's tons of hotels in the area, just pick one. As for restaurants, there's tons of places to go ranging from the normal chains on Archer Road to some nice local venues downtown.
