Howdy
My big interest is bike commuting and touring. I ride a Specialized Rockcombo-actually thats how I found about this forum, I was researching info about this rare bike and found postings that another member had written. It works well for commuting in that it is tough and fairly versatile. I like the drop bars because I can get low when facing a headwind. I have a thirty two mile commute to work and ride shorter errands and rides whenever possible. I am looking to get a Surly Crosscheck but money is tight so I am doing it the old fashioned way-saving up for it. Actually I have heard and read mostly good things about the crosscheck except for the tires. I think the crosscheck will be better for longer commutes and rides.
I am fairly new to biking having been into martial arts and running when I was younger (I'm 48). I'm trying to bike as much as possible but I have three kids and it is hard to fit them in a pannier without them whining. For this reason, I cannot commute nearly as much as I would like. I like to read about other peoples opinions and experiences about everything from bikes to riding in traffic.
Hope to hear from anyone who has had or has a rockcombo-curious to see what you think about it

Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
