BMX - Help me decide...DK Rage or stolen Pinch

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ive narrowed down my choices to a DK rage (black), or Stolen Pinch (white).
Here's what ive determined from the bikes.
DK Rage-$199 Stolen Pinch-$229
Pinch: Looks better,
Rage: 4130 chromoly downtube, cheaper ($30), lighter (1lb),
Both: 3 piece cranks, Kenda tires, Tektro U-brake
im still really leaning towards the Stolen Pinch, what do you guys think?
Both of these bikes are within my budget, and i won't be going for any other more expensive bike. Don't want or need a gyro either.
Bike uses: simple tricks, small commutes, etc...

Well, if i did get something full chromoly, the only one i would be interested i buying costs $619.
It's a Stolen Cheater, http://www.danscomp.com/101449.php?cat=BIKES
But that's way out of my budget right now, so between the two, which one would you go with?

niether. get something full chromoly. Just by the heading I felt I would have to make the exact same statement.
Well, if i did get something full chromoly, the only one i would be interested i buying costs $619. Why is that? There are about a dozen or so great bike between that range available. Wrap is only $329 http://www.danscomp.com/101408.php?cat=BIKES.

If you don't want to go more expensive at least get the DK general lee. It has a chromo main fame.

Yea but he wants it cheap. So General Lee is the best for cheap.
Why does everyone jump up and down making a great clamour about full chromoly when half of these threads start off with "just some little tricks and commutes"? Would you also recommend like a BMW or something if they needed a car to drive down to the supermarket once a week?

That's why I suggested the General Lee. Strength and it's cheap.

its not just that. if he picks up the sport and learns to ride the bike well there is going to be some major upgrades needed shortly after buying the bike. not something you probly want to do. if you just buy chromoly now, the bike will last you years with no upgrades needed

Would you also recommend like a BMW or something if they needed a car to drive down to the supermarket once a week? I'd be buying only a few items at a time. So I could go every day :D.
Seriously though. The better the bike the better the riding experience. A Full CroMo will probably last longer, not need to be upgraded from (as fast) and hold a higher percentage of it's value if ever sold. If the budget can be stretched to about the $350 level a Stolen Wrap is a excellent value.

they are both good brands.

the frameset will last for years, yeah, but how long will the stock components on an entry-level full chromoly bike last? if he picks up the sport, those components are going to need replacing/upgrading soon enough too, and it's the components that suck all your money dry, not the frameset. by the time he's upgraded everything he could've just bought a mid-level complete instead.
if he was coming in here wanting to get into street or dirt jumps or whatever, then yeah i'd totally agree with starting off full chromoly. but when people come along just wanting to jump off kerbs on the way to the corner store or whatever, it's totally overkill. if they do manage to get into it after a while, they can just skip straight to the mid-level complete when their skills outgrow the hi-ten, and in the meantime if the bike gets nicked from outside the corner store, or they get bored and just stick it in the garage and forget about it for years, they aren't as out of pocket as they would be if they'd bought too much bike to start with.
i guess what it comes down to is how likely you think they are to actually need full chromoly at some point in the near future. :P

Dude, at your height get a 20.5 or 20.75 bike. See PM sent to you. You "get what you pay for".

if you must get one of those two, get the Rage. if you look at the Stolen, the first thing you notice is a cheap, mainstream chainring. personally, I'd recommend a Haro f2 or f3
FuzzyRyder

haro is crap, especially the f series bikes.

Yea I had a haro once. Rode it or one day and it fell apart. Tacoed the wheel and bent the 1 pc sh*t cranks.
