Yesterday, I had a good ride, I flew around my regular route, felt like I was on one of those 2kg CF wonder bikes, even though I was on my 15kg mountain bike turned hybrid. Today, I felt like I was trying to pedal a 100kg bike made of solid lead, through Jello. Every pedal stroke was an effort, I felt ready to bonk before I was even out of the driveway. Even though I had eaten better today then yesterday. Same route, similar time of day, similar wind speed and direction, same bike, turned in an average speed 0.3 km/h slower then yesterday.

Anyone have any ideas as to what happened?

Just a few questions to consider.

Dehydration? (either yesterday or today)

Recovery meal/drink yesterday?

How did you sleep?

Did you push so hard yesterday that you needed a day off today?

+1 What Little Darwin said.

Also sometimes its just like that. I ride Monday thru Thursday every day then do a long ride on Saturday. This week I was a bit slow on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday I had a great ride. It was a hotter day to. I did 50% more miles than I did the other days and came in a mile/hour faster. Go figure.

Some days are just better than others. Perhaps you were more tired than you realized, as someone suggested.

At any rate, you did ride and got some exercise both days; that in itself is an accomplishment.

Especially this year, we had precipitation on every weekend since November, this is only the third Saturday this season it hasn't rained.....

Sometimes dehydration creeps up on me and I don't even know it, untill I start to feel realy slow and lathargic. Maybee it's just 'cause I'm such a noob, and not compensating enough for the extra exercise some days. When what you describe happens to me, the first thing I do is look for about a quart of water, and see if that helps.

Maybe it's just a couple MPH difference in wind direction.

Short ride yesterday, but no issues, didn't even add air to the tires in between, although I will today, providing it doesn't thunderstorm for my ride. Now time to admit something, I think I was over tired on Friday. For Thursdays ride I went to bed at 9:30AM and got up at 6PM (I work midnight to 8), on Friday, I went to bed at 10:00AM and got up at 1:00PM. Now I have done this before without problems, and have sometimes gone on long rides, without issue,

Okay, so I figured it was because I was tired, today I am even more tired, but did considerably better, still trying to figure this out,....

Maybe this was the toonie at work.

This morning, after a horrible night at work, I found a toonie, on the floor. I was talking to someone, and told him about it, it wasn't his, and there was no one else around, I had a lucky toonie.... This beats a lucky penny 200 times over :D

I run into someone else, I haven;t seen in about a year, he said those 4 words every clyde wants to hear, "Have you lost weight?" So, I said, well maybe, last time I weighed myself, about eight months ago, I was 215, he said, you gotta be under 200 now:D:D

Later, I go for a ride, and set a personal best time, and beating the old top average speed by .1 km/h, I also broke the speed limit, I have a section on my normal 10 mile route, that is dead flat, and has no stops for about 6 blocks, I often interval this section, it has a 40km/h speed limit, closest I have ever come, is 38km/h, with a pretty good tail wind, today, wind from the side, the old bike computer showed 41,5 at one point :D:D:D

As for the toonie? Hey that sucker went into a 6/49 ticket for tomorrow night, it's $15,000,000, I could buy a really nice bike with that, and have enough left over to................ retire.
