Can someone please help me. I purchaced a 1000W rear hub kit from luckybud (Paul Zao) on Ebay, and a 48v 20ah battery that arrived yesterday. The Battery seemed easy enough to wire, I left the lighter gage wire alone for now as I believe thats part of the charging circuit. When I connected the battery to the controller I got an arc when I made the connection and all my battery level indicator lights are on and I have no power to the motor. I am pretty good with mechanics but really limited in my understanding of the electronics involved. Of course neither the motor kit nor the battery came with a wiring diagram or schematic so I am completely lost. Can anyone out there help? Thanks

The simplest brushless configurations have the power going through the contoller, then the speed control to the motor. Brushed versions don't require a controller to work.
I'm a bit concerned about the arc. Both controllers and speed controllers are subject to frying. If you have a brushed hub, you can check to see if the motor works by connecting it directly to the battery. There should be some sort of disclaimer here, but needless to say, the wheel should be in the air and it should be a brief connection.
Finally, I have personal issues with ebay, and you might find that there is little support out there for you once they've got your money.
You don't say where you are, but other forum members who live nearby might be willing to help you directly.

Also, endless sphere is a really good forum for technical questions. They have a lot of electric/electronic folks there.
