Hi, I'm Kirt from Rotherham in South Yorkshire. I ride a GT Aggressor mtb with trekking tyres. I do most of my riding on my daily commute but enjoy a bit of weekend / evening rides. I'm also a public safety cyclist (which means I get paid to cycle) riding a Santa Cruz Chameleon Pursuit Pro. I've been riding for about 5 years now but have really got into it over the last 2 years.

How did you get a job as a cyclist if you weren't really 'into' it?

I've been commuting by bike for a long time, I started to really get into cycling more seriously 2 years ago doing more than just commute. I work as a Police Community Support Officer. May last year an opportunity at work came up where I could take the IPMBA course and swap my foot patrols for cycle patrols, since then I've never looked back.

I don't think it's fair to say that I wasn't really 'into' it, I've always enjoyed cycling, isn't that what cycling is all about?

Cycling is also about crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you, and hearing the lamentations of their women. I'm sure you'll realise this once you have spent some time in the road bike sub-forum.:p

Surely the greatest enemy of all cyclists is the fat 4x4 driver who thinks we need just 2" at the edge of the road or the truck driver who's been driving all night, not forgetting the Corsa driving chav who thinks it's funny to yell something out of his window at you as he passes.

In the UK it's probably the White Van Man.
