I ride a hybrid to work and back, and now that I'm getting in pretty good condition, I'm starting to see a LOT of things I haven't noticed since I was a kid, like curbs, steep little hills, RAMPS FOR AIRS, and such.
So, I'm thinking of getting something that I can enjoy riding in the evenings and weekends to get crazy, catch air, bounce around, etc. I love drops (down steep hills) and love jumping. I'm not into the mid-air tricks like tabletops, etc., but love getting air and landing softly.
I'm really, really old (39) ;) but still, I do have to worry about crushing myself, so I won't be getting too crazy.
I'm not into any kind of racing or timed stuff, just lots of downhill dirt that I can bounce around on.
As far as full-suspension mountain biking, it sounds like fun and sounds smooth, but I've never ridden a real mountain bike, only BMX (as a kid) and my current hybrid that can go across grass and hardpack dirt, but that's it.
I'm looking for something that's all around fun for all around riding through dirt, roads, jumps, bumps, drops, etc.
Any suggestions?
I would get a bmx but I want something that can also go fast. BMX is mostly for dirt tracks, right? I like that, but it's not what I'd primarily do.
