Bicycle Mechanics - what kind of cassette?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
hello everybody,
could anyone possibly help me and advise what kind of cassette should i get for my 14 gears? rear wheel was stolen and have to have it fixed asap (commuting to work :D ). i've got a spare wheel but it only includes a freehub. your help will be much appreciated.
thx:love:
By 14 gears I guess you mean you normally have two chainrings (front sprokets) and 7 cogs (rear sprokets).
It would really help if you could tell us the brand of the components and if the bike is a road bike or a mountain bike. If the brand is Shimano then you either need a 7-speed road cassette or a 7-speed mountain Shimano compatible cassette. We're a little short on information.

Just take your spare wheel to the LBS. They will likely have a 7spd cassette for your wheel for ~$30. Maybe even a bit cheaper. SRAM's are the economy way to go and they work fine. Shimano's will cost a little more. The good news is that almost all 7spd stuff is pretty cheap these days ;-)
