Did a bit more exploring, since I've more time on my hands these days. A nice 45 miles starting up Page Mill Rd, south on Skyline Blvd to Highway 9, Then Pierce Rd, Mt Eden Rd and back to Menlo Park along Foothill Expressway, and back up Alpine Rd to home.

It's really great having these hills to ride!

Page Mill Road is my favorite Silicon Valley road, upwards and downwards. Any loop including Page Mill Road is a good loop.

A couple of other nice loops:
1. up Montebello Road, cross through Montebello Open Space Preserve, down Page Mill Road
2. up Page Mill Road, down Alpine Road, Pescadero Road to lunch in Pescadero, north on Stage, return on Tunitas and Kings Mountain

Good suggestions, thanks!

Page Mill is fantastic. The first time I rode it, the early section lulled me into a false sense of security and I over paced the first couple of miles, thinking "what's the big deal?" completely unprepared for what was to follow. I soon found out and had to stop soon after in the steep section. Much embarrassment! I never had climbs like this to tackle before - steep and short, yes, but nothing that takes almost an hour. It's great.

Did you move here from the UK?

^ yes, a couple of years ago. Decidedly more mountainous here than Oxfordshire!

Cracking ride today!

Only 22 miles, but included Kings Mtn Rd - with our 2 year old riding in the bike trailer. Previous best time a hair under 32 min. Today, 45min :D. Call it resistance training!
