Mountain Biking - Take a look. Tell me what you think

Hey im new to the forum, and relatively new to mountain biking. Recently I got a Cannondale Delta V 1000 and love it. It is a 27 speed and has full suspension and has new peddles, seat, brake pads, and tires.

I have a few Questions about the bike. Do yall know what year the frame might be? How much was the msrp on this back in the day??? just a ballpark estimate.

I noticed the front post shock is a bit mushy feeling. when you push down on it, it feels slow and recovers very slowly... Yes i know it runs off of air pressure, but and you can stiffen it up but still the recovery is very slow and unresponsive. What are your thoughts on this? and could I look to a new fork set up?

1992-94 or thereabouts I'd say. For the slow rebound, there may be a knob to allow you to control that speed. (maybe. if it's an elastomer based model up front, you may be stuck with what you've got) No idea on original MSRP.

Honestly, I'd not bother with a new fork on that bike. The front and rear suspension is fairly outdated at this point, and a new fork will require headset adapters to use with that frame. Save the money to go towards a new bike at some point, and ride that thing until it dies! It looks to be in decent shape, with newer parts.

I agree with Scrub. Just ride it. Looks to me like the boot on the headshock is fully compressed, just sitting there?

Looks pretty close. Though I think those first models only had a whopping 50mm of travel anyhow. :thumb:

The estimate of 92-94 is right on. Estimated MSRP is around $1600 to $1800 new. Someone made some upgrades to that bike, I don't believe it came as a 9 speed rear originally and I don't think the crank is original. It looks to be in really nice condition.

92-94...9sp didn't exist for MTB applications. I believe the V-Brakes and LX levers are a notch up from the OEM canti's too.

1992 Cannondale Delta V 1000

This was the first year for a true dual suspension Cannondale with the addition of the Delta V suspension fork to the E.S.T. rear suspension. The Delta V fork offered 2" of travel on 88 needle bearings. The enlarged head tube housed the suspension workings while the "V" frame configuration lowered the stand over height back down to normal.

the front post is slightly compressed in the pic, ill take it out and mess around with it a little. It still rides great so im sure ill get alot of use out of it. it surised me the first time i picked it up on how light it was! :0

I had a 93 Delta V 2000 and it was Dark Blue. Mine came with a Coda crank and Coda brakes which I think was the Cannondale house brand. It was a great Pogo Stick riding uphill. There is a Big Plastic knob around the air fitting on top of the headset. Turn it right and it tightens the rebound, turn it left and it softened it. Put some air in the Headshok and see if that makes it work better after playing with the adjustment. Putting air in it is a pain because the fitting is so short.

That 92-94 estimate was just the frame. It looks to be in such good shape, I'm thinking someone had the frame hanging around and built it up later. Or never rode it enough to ding it up stock, and then swapped on all that new stuff at some point.

well me and my friend messed around with it, and apparently we weren't putting near enough air in the post. We pumped it extremely hard and fast and the shock popped up. We took it to some local trails and it rides great, the travel is a little short but I am so happy it is up and running now

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread. But I have a friend who need some help with his Delta V 700 1993 (http://sanaandterry.com/cannondale/year/1993/1993.pdf) fork!
I've only had RockShox and Marzocchi (http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&rlz=1B3GGGL_svSE362SE362&ei=LpLdS_aeBMSWOPGpkccH&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&ved=0CBsQBSgA&q=Marzocchi&spell=1)'s and there isn't much info on the web.

What he need to know is how much air to put in (Min/Max) so he doesn't blow the seals.
How does he fit more air in, are there realy two valves?
How does he mantain the bearings and how long is the service intervals before oil change and what oil to use?
Any chans of finding the service manual?
