My name is Darryl. I bought a urban hybrid bike called the Marin Muirwoods this past Thursday. I had a similar bike 4 or 5 years ago, but it was stolen. I rode my bike to the bus stop Friday, and took it to work with me via the bus rack on the Metro Houston bus.
I work in a dmv office, and one of the Troopers let me lock it up in a storage room. I don't want to wear out my welcome to that arrangement, therefore I am looking for a good chain lock, and/or a U lock. Soon as i get all that straightened out, I look forward to commuting to work via the bus and my bike. I plan to park my small pick up and give it a rest. Who knows? I may even ride the bike all the way to work. Traffic scares me though.
One note: I was riding back to the bus stop from work and I noticed a stream of water from a busted water main. The stream was a few inches deep. I tried to ride through the shallow part of all that and ened up having the bike slip from under me! No cars were around, except one that was a block or so behind me. Boy did they get a visual. Bottom line, I need to get used to how that bike handles. I've never owned a bike of this quality before. The disc brakes on the bike are very responsive. Except for my pride I wasn't hurt. Neither was the bike. I plan to go riding somemore today, maybe at a park. Looking forward to participating and learning on and in this forum.
