MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- A taxi cab driver struck a group of bicyclists in Miami Beach on Sunday morning, sending 12 to the hospital.

Four of the cyclists were in critical condition, police said. Several others were suffering serious injuries.

It happened on the MacArthur Causeway about 9 a.m., police said. Officers are on the scene trying to determine how many were hit and what caused the taxi driver to slam into the bikers.

And on sacred cyclist's Sunday... this is very sad. My condolences to the riders affected and their families. Hope they all recover soon and return to the roads with new dura-ace equipped bikes, courtesy of the taxi's insurance company.
