$59 seems a little steep (no pun intended) for a ride that we can do on our own. Are you planning to have sushi at the rest stops or something?

No sushi, but a post ride meal is included along with a shirt.

Centuries fees from several promoters are running upwards of $100.

If ride fees are too "steep" certainly no one is holding your feet to the fire to enter.

This sounds like a fun ride. out of curiosity what is the levation gain for the 3 different rides? I saw the profile but no overall gain.

Roughly we average around 100 feet of climbing per mile up here so multiply the mileage by 100 feet and you will get close to the amount of climbing involved.

I would pay $59 for a timed ride. Hell, I drive to AZ to do a decent timed ride. Unfortunately, last year the timing didn't work very well. There was no timing as such, just standings with numbers and age. I'll pass this year. If they fix the timing, I'll definitely be back. It is a nice ride, and the organizers are very nice and friendly people.

Thank you for replying and making a graceful exit. You are just another ride promoter trying to get free advertising. That is just one of the things I have an issue with the other is your "If ride fees are too "steep" certainly no one is holding your feet to the fire to enter. " sounds quite akin to Planet Ultra.

Now please read this again and tell me where I called my customers Freds. Let me help you I didn't. First paragraph is about my customers (a very heartwarming medical history for a backdrop which made it even more devastating when their bikes were stolen) second paragraph is about the ride and the quantity and quality of other riders. They are two distinct thoughts separated by paragraphs.

I have. I have multiple examples. I had have customers of mine have their cars broken into and their bikes stolen while they were enjoying the festivities after the ride. One customer in particular came into the store and bought two Kestrels. One a Talon SL with Dura-Ace and the other a standard Talon with Ultegra. He and his brother were so excited to do the ride and they bought the bikes just for this ride. On Monday when they came into the store they were not so excited anymore.

This ride, like most things south of the border, sucks. You have to get much further south to enjoy the beauty and splendor of Mexico. This ride is way too inconvenient. The logistics, the quantity (too many) of the riders and the quality (lack thereof) of the riders. Why should you have to pay $35-$40 (w/ late fee) for 50 mile ride . I'm glad to see this ride go away. Now I won't have to be asked by some fred "oh are you doing the Rosorita-Ensenada ride?"

Which ride is this?

In AZ? There are quite a few - El Tour de Tucson, El Tour de Phoenix (my favorite). Both are organized by PBAA, and no, I'm not affiliated to them in any way. Check www.pbaa.com. Also, I've heard the Tour of Scottsdale is a nice ride, but I haven't done it.
