Does anyone know of a U lock that is easy to mount on a small bike and easy to lock and unlock? I tried the Cannondale San Quentin, and the mounting bracket was impossible to mount. Then I tried the Trek Streetwise, and it's way too hard to get the lock on and off the mounting bracket. Total frustration! Thanks.

The Streetwise and bracket is one of the easiest combos I've ever found in U-lock. If you're having trouble with that, you'll certainly have more difficulties with other brands.
Where do you have the bracket installed? Pictures? I prefer having it high on the seat-tube so that you can just drop the lock into it. Gravity will keep it in place. Then to take the lock out, just lift it up.
Sure, you lose one water-bottle cage this way, but you can always add a 2nd one under the down-tube.

You may also want to consider just buying a couple of cheap velcro straps and using those to secure the lock to your frame. Another option, depending on your config, is to lock the lock around your seat tube, just under the saddle but above a wedge bag, which holds it in place. Of course, if the lock is too wide, it'll hit your legs in this case.

I found most mounting brackets to be gimmicky crap

I don't bother with the mounting bracket on my Kryptonite; I hang the lock on my rear rack and secure it to keep it from rattling using a Velcro (electrical) cable tie. I like having the frame triangle pretty clear so that I can easily carry the bike.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll try the velcro straps--with a smaller U lock. Great idea.
