Folding Bikes - I've just bought a Royal Enfield Revolution.....

For those that don't know, it was Enfield's Raleigh 20 competitor, and some reckon the best of the 70's small wheelers. I paid £24! Very chuffed

No. This one is Restoration Only. Opinions differ, but there might only have been 30 of these made. The only upgrade I'm likely to even consider is alloy rims.

I don't know! I'll be picking it up week after next, so more details then. I'll certainly bring it out to play, but it looks in the pictures as though it might need some love first. It's been hand painted, so repainting wouldn't be a crime, but where would I get the right decals, eh? Answer me that?

Royal Enfield motorcycle decals would be no problem, there is a big market. Even if they are not the same, if you have or can get some kind of pattern, then getting someone to make a set up should not be difficult, dont know what a one off would cost though.

Congratulations, Sammyboy! I look forward to photos when everything's cleaned and polished! Looks like standard GB-style spoking, 32 front with 40 rear. Is that a dynohub on the front? If it's a standard one, it may burn bulbs a little more often than a big wheeled bike would....

Experience on the C&V thread suggests lots, probably over £100, and then a long lead time. Motorcycle decals might be a good enough substitute. Of course, Enfield motorcycles are still manufactured new in India.

You can get waterslide decal paper on which you print with a color printer, you know. Using the stuff is tricky; you have to spray the decal with a topcoat to waterproof it, and you may have to add opaque light colors by hand, but you have plenty of bikes to practice on, right? Looks like you need the words "Royal Enfield" and "Revelation" in a fancy cursive script, and though it'll be hard to find the right font, it'll be even harder to find someone who knows the difference.

Congratulations on your new trophy bike.
You may recall that I have one too, Revelation ser.nr.150134. My family still enjoys riding it to the produce market and filling up the basket a couple of times each week. My Sturmey hubs are dated April 1964.Would be interested to know the ser nr of your Revelation and production year stamped on your rear hub. Tony Hadland may like to have these details for his archieves too.

I decided not to do too much restoration to the bike but to maintain it as close to original as possible.
I did remove the fenders and chainguard and placed them in safe storage, away from the usual wear and tear. Also changed the saddle to something a bit more comfortable while the original sits in the storage bin.

Hi Sammy I bought a Revelation last week. Still to collect it. I would like find some 451 alloy rims but this has proved difficult also tyres that are 1 3/8 are also hard to come by. Do you have any leads on tyres and rims? Seatpost?
