General Cycling Discussion - Why has DnvrFox been banned?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I had to enter the forum on a different ISP, name and password. I have been known to you as DnvrFox.
Twice in the past three days I have found myself banned from Bikeforums.net. No email, no explanation, just signing on and receiving a "you have been banned" notice. I have sent Joe emails asking why. No explanation, no nothing!!
What is going on here? To my knowledge, I have violated no rules or guidelines. At least, I would expect a polite warning or reminder first if I had. Nope, simply "banned."
It gets to be discouraging and just a little embarrassing. I mean, I have never been banned by anyone or anything before, and I am really a pretty non-controversial kind of guy.
Anyway, I think it is time for me to depart. No sense staying where you are rather definitely not welcome.
Gus, Allister, KleinMP99, others who I have been priviliged to know, I will be posting on BicycleforumRefuge at the Yahoo club site.
Adieu. Happy biking to all!! Sorry to be going away.

Denver, sorry for the problems, it looks like it was an AOL issue. Each time you sign onto AOL, you recive a different IP, when i was banning a few users this week, i banned two IP addresses. I have removed thoes IP addresses from the banned list, and all AOL users should have full access to the forums once again.
I hope you stick around, i have learned alot from your posts on the forums, you have been a great help to other members here aswell.
BTW, what email address did you try to get ahold of me? I havent seen anything in my yahoo acct.
... yet another reason to hate AOL ...

When the banned message comes on, there is a button to push to "contact the webmaster" or something like that. Anyway, you push the button and get an email box. I believe the address was webmaster@bikeforums.net. I also tried JoeGardner@bikeforums.net. I have no clue if that is a good address, but did not get the email returned. I have no idea what your Yahoo address is. I did this both times I was banned and never got a reply.

First off, im very sorry about the troubles. As far as i can tell, its an AOL dynamic IP problem. I guess i cant perm ban AOL users :)
I dont recive email to thoes accounts, however they do go into a catch-all acct, i usualy check that once a week. Im sure i will find your emails when i check that acct.
I'll also put up a contact email link at the bottom of each page, to my current yahoo (bikeforums@yahoo.com) acct. This way, people will always beable to get ahold of me.

Joe,
You have a great forum, well administered, with lots of interest. However you will always get different viewpoints. Some people come across as rude when they do not intend to do so. I work in an international company and we have here in Geneva over 40 nationalities! It is interesting to see the different points of view. Our Russian comes across as quite a brutal element but in fact is a very efficient and kind bloke. We have an Italian rotter, which is unusual for these people. who is a fine back stabber. We have a great number of French as we are so near the border. These guys are pretty arrogant whilst the gals are soooo busy looking after their figures.
Why not set up a High Horse section for the gripers?
Wishing you a Happy New Year, keep up the good work

It's like a curse from hell or something. First we find a heap of tossers turn up and continuing to bombard us with crap under different usernames when they get banned, then we get one of our more intelligent contributors ending up being banned.
I would just like to take a moment to say:

Yes, and I am guilty of overreacting a bit. It was just that I could not get any response, despite following the suggested procedures to get a response. And this was over three days and four posts.
Joe, your idea of putting your yahoo address will probably not work for someone who has been banned, either accidentally or on purpose. As it is now, the only thing that you can access is the automatic banning notice, which allows only one action - the link to the "webmaster". Perhaps if this link was changed to your yahoo address?
Anyway, thanks for reestablishing my address. It seems this bike forum thing has gotten to be sort of an addiction. None of the rest of you can understand that - right Chris??
In any event, I will place your Yahoo address in my address book.
DnvrFox,
We all know exactly what you did and we find it atrocious.
Being the season of forgivness I personally welcome you back with open arms.
Don't let what the other guys are saying about you bother you one bit.

Perhaps just saying something is wrong?
But, thanks to Joe, I am all set, never to be banned (or, perhaps I should say baned, as those in the BMX forum spell it) again.
