Hi folks,

Did a quick forum search, couldn’t find any relevant hits.

Do I need to use rear drop out screw adjusters? Is there any risk in simply putting the rear wheel axle tight up in the rear drop out?

I appreciate any advice.

I suspect their actual function is to centre the wheel in the chainstays.

Yeah I thought that but I didn't know if they were absolutely necessary since I think my wheel is running pretty straight and true without them. I just wanted to know if there was any potential damage in running the bike with the axle tight up against the rear dropout? The dropout has a hanger if that makes any difference.

Anyone?

There is no risk in not using the screws if the frame and wheel are straight.
I am doing that on one of my bikes because the screw broke in the dropout.

Thanks to evryone who replied. I'll try to pick some up but at least I can rest assured the back end isn't going to fall off (hopefully) :lol:
