Have searched and not found the correct name or where to get an extension for handle bar that will allow more lights held off the bar. It is like a T.

Any help, thanks,
JAK

I believe that you are looking for a bar extender like the Topeak BarXtender. I have one and it is easily adjustable, fits securely, and as I recall was inexpensive.

I am thinking about the Minoura Swing Grip from Nashbar.........
This Nashbar Trekking Bar needs something, it's crowded.

Minoura calls them Space Grips

Performance calls them Space Bars (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=22874&subcategory_ID=4323)

There are others like the Sidetrak (http://www.sidetrak.com/Catalog/accessories.html) and Terracycle (http://www.terracycle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=T&Product_Code=accmt&Category_Code=Acmts) and the Thorn accessory bar. (http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=11040)

I have the Sidetrak (works well with linear brakes) and the Space Bar (works well with cantilevers). I have modified each with 1" aluminum tubing so that my light mounts fit better. The Space Bar is a little lighter but the Sidetrak can't slip on the bar.

Check out the Mounting Lights page on Peter White Cycles. Lots of visuals and ideas (including some things that have already been discussed here and other options). It's a good reference page.

I am particularly drawn to the Nitto Lamp Holder, but have never actually purchased one. They seem very nice, but they're also much more expensive that the roughly $10-$15 you might pay for a T-shaped Spacebar or the like.

Had one and it disintegrated in less than a year. All that was mounted on mine was an Edge 305, and occasionally a gpsmap60.

I was looking at these too - but while I was in my basement (wood shop) I got the idea of building my own. So I took some nice Walnut, cut out some pieces, drill some holes, made a dowel and then finished it. I just got it put onto my bike last night. I should have measured some angles, since it needs a couple of degrees to counter the angle of the handlebar. I'll try to post a picture later tonight here and then another one in the commuter forum.

Do that! I want to see.

And let us know when you're ready to start taking orders for them. :D
