Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Toshi double straps slipping out on skids

I only get this on the right, rear strap...when I do a skid (especially one when I'm right over the seat and putting a lot of pressure on the strap/pedal) I get one that pulls out a bit. Sometimes it'll pull out nearly 2" which is a little disturbing. What can I do to stop it from slipping out during skids?

are you sure you have it threaded through correctly? I remember when I first put mine on, I had the strap run through the buckle incorrectly and it kept slipping and I thought it was dysfunctional. It wasn't, I was, and I rethreaded it correctly through the buckle making sure that the clasp bit on the strap correctly. After that, my straps didn't move a bit.

regardless, i rock 2x singles with those clips, never had anything slip whatsoever.

Actually I have those clips. I was looking at the and I found a way to make it work but I'm not sure if it's "right" but whatever. There's another hole in the suede where the clasp thing is so I threaded the rear straps through there and they're much more secure now. They look like they were made to go a number of ways.

are the straps what's slipping or is your foot slipping?


i'd venture to say you're not tight enough if your foot is slipping...maybe it's your shoes?

Yeah they were slipping (well just that one out of 4) for me like that. I'll try and post home I set them now but I'll have to find my camera.

That's how you do it. Make sure it's going through like that.

Jesus Christ enough with the brake stuff. I have a brake on my bike and I still like skidding once in awhile.

My clipless pedals rarely give me trouble, perhaps you could give a set of those a try?

Tried straps, still like clipless... Until my shoes wear out. Then go with straps. That's the ticket

I also have a set sitting in my parts bin.

i have 105's in that style and never really liked em. its too easy to slip out the sides with your toes. that plus the lack of teeth made for a faily unconfident setup.

Yeah i was wondering about my toe coming out.
Just thought they looked nice.
I guess ill stick with my Suntours anyway.

Deathhare, the same pedal model exist also in the Shimano 600 series and you can easily find them on Ebay for much cheaper than the Dura-Ace model. IMHO they're fine pedals. And look cool too.

I have the same style of 105 pedals with the pain in the @s$ three bolt toeclip design. The clips are hard to come by and the pedals are really made to be used with the old style notched cleats. that trailing edge destroys your foot and the shoe it's in if you are wearing anything but vintage shoes with vintage cleats.
