and then it zigged and zagged some more :D Almost forgot how fun my....CAR...can be at times. I just moved recently and don't know what there is around here for "physical" entertainment. Took my bike for a spin finally this morning to check out the local bike trail. Turned out pretty good...didn't dig the fact that it ran along a road on the left side and felt very uncomfortable at intersections. After a spell it switched over to the right side and all was well. Got home all sweaty and tired but felt good. Decided to wash the car and then wax it. After slaving over it for several hours it was time to see what kind of canyon roads this place offered...

http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/964/dsc0001ff5.th.jpg (http://img246.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc0001ff5.jpg) http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/2273/dsc0002ww9.th.jpg (http://img440.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc0002ww9.jpg)

I was immediately rewarded  Hopped on the freeway and went for about 3 miles and got off at Sand Canyon. After driving about 2~3 miles on this particular road it got very very interesting. It seemed liked nothing but switchback after switchback. I was in heaven...had a big ol' grin and just kept shaking my head thinking "this friggin road is awesome!!" And it was. Seemed to go forever with nothing but curve after curve...no chance to gather too much speed, just enjoy the handling of the car and forget about everything else. I had a blast without getting crazy and drove within my capabilities without endangering anyone. I almost forgot why I bought my car in the first place and was quickly reminded...

Today was just an awesome day and I'm a happy camper and wanted to share my experience :) I get to go see Radiohead in concert tomorrow night and can't remember being this happy. I've been kind of down and out for quite some time and just feel like things are starting to fall in place again and "almost" feel human again...

Anybody else have a great Sunday?

I just recently replaced my stolen Miata--with another Miata.
Awesome vehicles.

Rednecked mine up a bit.
High flow headers, mid-pipe, dual exhaust, adjustable shocks, Edelbrock springs.

Ya know...after I showered before I went on my mondo *****in' drive...I was looking pretty fly as well. Didn't go to the hair dresser as I was feeling pretty confident I could handle it on my own :thumb:

It is no longer referred to as a... "miata" :) I guess MX5 sounds much more studly than "Miata". It's still a "cute" car no matter how much you tell chicks to not refer to it as "cute". A small convertible will always be "cute" no matter how bad asss it is unfortunately :p

Could find it on Google Maps and post a link.

I'm like you; I hadn't driven my car for what seemed like a couple months, then, when I had to transport my tuba, took a freeway ramp at speed, opening up the throttle through the exit. Man, I missed that sound.

I went 140, did some a couple J turns, and got some nice Scandinavian flicking in too. My friend and I were taking turns driving his Eclipse doing this stuff. Fun sunday indeed.

Glad you have a sense of humor. Some "MX5" guys are touchy about their cars.
Making fun of Miata's, fun. Getting your a55 handed to you at the autocross by Miata's, not so fun.

I still call mine a Miata. (Actually, I think Mazda refers to them as the MX-5 Miata.) Anyway, fun car to drive, and yeah, it's "cute." But I get plenty of compliments on mine, so I'll live with the cute label.

Sand Canyon eh... ;)

Just watch out for t3h CHP.

For moar back road fun check out http://www.itnrally.org for some road rallies that'll take you on all sorts of crazy backroads you never thought existed (Sand Canyon was one of them). :D I used to do them all the time up until maybe a year or two ago. Cycling got in the way... :(

If you ever have the chance to make it down here, Deal's Gap may be the best road in the western hemisphere. Currently the cops are screwing it up, but that goes in waves.
