is there a calculator that calculates calories burned based on grade? how many calories are burned at 0% grade vs. 10% grade?

I would think you would need a heart rate monitor to get a close-to-accurate number of calories burned on a hill (understanding the limitations of most calorie calculators built into the typical HRM). More so than in the flats, I'm guessing that your fitness and style would probably make a difference going up a grade. I might spin a low gear while you are standing up a higher gear. I might be able to keep up with you in the flats but be puking up a lung and working a lot harder to get up a hill that you don't have a problem with. My heart rate would be higher and that effects the calories burned.

You need a lot more info than just grade to get the Calories. This sight will give you the Work= Cal +10%.
