I wasn’t sure about doing this ride:
I thought it might be overly hot and or windy. Team Vacaville bailed due to an untimely injury for Red Rider. Hopefully not to serious.
I always start out a little apprehensive around new people for some dumb reason. Ninety-Nine percent of the time it all turns out okay.
We started out with the temp just perfect with a slight breeze and sunny. Okay perfect…good start. It was fun just doing a completely flat ride and for me a novelty that wore out a little too soon, but got me out of the saddle for a sprint here and there.
The pace was pretty easy and kind of made me wish I had brought the “Taxi Bike”. I haven’t done a + 50 miles on it yet.
Melinda and Mike, Barbara and Steve commandeered Santana Tandems.
Helen and Nick on a Steve Rex and Team Butterfat on their Co-Motion.
I finally got to meet Rush Fan, who showed up around the time Red Spoke arrived. Joels, a first time meeting.
I hadn’t been out in this area since the mid-80’s and I actually remember some of the landmarks. We had a nice lunch in Rio Vista (Donuts and Sandwich’s) Sooo healthy!
Right after lunch Alex took off on a solo break! We we’re finally able to real him in. Really had a great time and thanks Curtis and Tricia for your hospitality! I had a great time and can’t wait till the next one.
