Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone else riding through this mess?
I live in Thornton and commute to Orchard and I-25. AKA DTC.
This morning was calm on the platte and cherry creek. My ride home will be using a modified version of bike route D-11 to avoid the parks with protesters and downtown. That is unless chessman has protesters in it.

I plan to purposefully ride into tomorrow to do some photography, but luckily, I am a virtual commuter.

Yeah, I had to slow down, but it's exciting, interesting, and fun. At one point, while waiting for a strolling group of pedestrians, I started stressing. Then I said to myself "You are thinking just like those insane, impatient cagers that are such a menace." After that, I chilled.
Lovely to see so many of the free bikes in use. It's like a bike party near the Confluence. And there's a huge number of riders in LoDo. I'm going back down there tonight.

I am thinking about doing an urban to check it out. No way I'd want to take my car down there...

hmmm
Perhaps I should stick to my normal route. Can't miss the fun and all that.
Something new and whatnot like chennai said.

Check out the bicycle (technically, tricycle) garbage/recycling collectors!

I met one of the ayobc bloggers on the light rail a few times last year. Apparently a different member that posts at that website is doing just that.

It has been nuts all day here in LoDo! My route is the BCT to the PRT then to 17th & Wynkoop. No problems this morning, but now there is a police officer directing traffic at 17th & Wynkoop! Glad I only have a few blocks to navigate to get over to the PRT! I should be home free from that point on.
There should be a law against lining up 10 tour busses down here! They just don't fit with the decor! ;)

The platte trail and cherry creek were packed with riders. Many on rental bikes. Sweet!
The protest group at the park by the flour mills was packed.
Nothing too bad but wed I will check out downtown. Maybe get off the cherry creek at market and head north or just avoid the trails all together.
Slowly sorting my way through packed crowds was testing my bike handling skills. :p

I'm glad it went okay for you. I was a bit worried that I may have encouraged you to ride through something that would make you crazy.
(The "rental" bikes are technically freebies.) Very fun.
I was caught in a traffic jam passing The Big Tent on Wynkoop for a bit. It was a "gapers block" cause by Daryl Hannah posing with an electric car. The car and Ms. Hannah were lovely. As were the rows of New Belgium Fat Tire bikes parked out in front.

No worries. It was quite amusing.
:)
I must avoid cheating on my next commute and get off the cherry creek to explore a tad.
