So i built a new bike last week. I installed a Shimano XT rear derailuer. Discovered there was no barrel adjuster. Realized that they were on the XT shifters. Did not buy XT shifters because i'm using these instead:

I was going to use those Jagwire "Mickey" adjusters that slip into the cable housing stop but they weren't going to arrive in time. The LBS had afew barrel adjusters that they let me have for free. :)

Did you find somewhere to purchase just 1 Jagwire "Mickey" adjuster?

Every mail order source I have found only sells bags of 10.

Are those Index or friction shift levers? Just asking as a beginner ... would you need adjustment capability with friction shifters?

You would not need this kind of adjustment with friction shifting. The barrel allows you to fine-tune the shift stops so index correctly.

That looks like a slick ride. Good fix too. Pretty dumb the new Shimano XT doesn't come with a barrel adjuster. I suppose it's lighter without it though....

You also could have got the older generation XT which does come with the adjuster.
