Something happened this weekend that has me very excited. Both me and my wife could lose about 20 pounds. I have been bike commuting for about 2 years, I don't own a car, and get about 75-150 miles a week. We got married this past April and have been together for about 4 years now. She always complains she's fat, but never really exercises much. Some friends asked if she wanted to rent a bike and go down on the beach here in Los Angeles, and it cost her $25 for the day, and she had such a great time, now she wants to buy a bike. Actually, there were about 10 of us on the ride, and they all were talking about buying a bike! So we will go out and size her up for a bike and then try to get her a used one somewhere.
I just have to keep them from buying a costco bike.

+1 When I wanted a new road bike, it was tough to sell her on a Sora/Tiagra equipped Schwinn. When it was time to shop for her bike, the Ultegra equipped Fuji was the only one that felt right to her.

We women have incredible instincts and know quality when we see it. Even if you turn over the price tag, we will sniff out the good stuff every time.

My wife has been on the bike over 10 years. Part of the reason is making her bike as comfy as possible for her. Don't be one of those cheeseheads that expects the wife to ride a cheesey stock saddle with $5 bike shorts and love it. We know what it takes to enjoy a bike, give her the same options!

Ya I need to get my wife a bike to. She actually likes to ride but all she has now is a very heavy GT mountain bike and it is really hard to ride.
