hello all.... has anyone ever toured (long distance, loaded) on a bianchi eros? any info, concerns or advice to if this bike is worth considering, will be greatly appreciated :)

i test rode the trek 520 today (17") and loved it... but its a bit too pricey for me, so im checking out other options.

thank you much!

Loaded touring? I would think you would want a touring bike. I think the Bianchi Volpe is a tourer. The 520 strikes me as a real touring bike. Cheaper bikes are forced to make too many compromises IMHO. It has a stable forgiving ride, and is something I'd consider being on all day.

I tour on an Eros from circa 1993. It's a good bike and it works for touring, but if I were buying a bicycle specifically for touring I would look at something else. My Eros won't take fenders. I can't mount a tire wider than a 28. The chainstays are a little short, and I do kick the rear panniers with my heels sometimes. The Eros is really meant to be a light touring bike, not a loaded tourer.
