Started from Placerville and made our way east...

Lots of scenic views along the way...

we made our way past Sly Park & Jenkinson Reservoir...

...and began the stairstep climbs up Mormon Emigrant Trail. From here, the road continually rose a bit, then flattened, then rose some more... repeated ad nauseum.

Plenty of climbing to be had...

...and some great descents down lightly traveled FD roads

We'd ride for miles without seeing or hearing another soul. Sometimes the only thing you'd hear was the sound of trees rustling from the wind above. How cool is that? :thumb:

We took a lunch break at a campground called Capps Crossing

Still a loooong way back to Placerville. And still more climbing? :notamused: I took the news well...

I think this was the last of the climbs... Everything kinda got fuzzy over the last 10 miles.

Suffice to say that this was more of a ride than I bargained for. Total toast by the time I got back to the car. Those last little blips from mile 64 to the finish were just a brutal way to end things when you're past your limit. :twitchy:

On the bright side, maybe I'm ready to tackle Mt Hamilton next week!

Will do. We were thinking about giving it another go in a few weeks when (hopefully) the weather cools a bit. It was getting pretty hot during the last 10 miles once we dropped out of the forest again...

I like the looks of that ride. Maybe we need to add some tandemania to it. :D
