Has anyone had any experience with Specialized's Roval wheels under warranty? I'm thinking about getting a second set of wheels (one for off road and the other set for commuting). I noticed they offer a lifetime warranty which is nice if they indeed honor that.
My bike came with Pave SLs (http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=25346) so I figured I could get another set of the same so I don't have dork with adjusting the v-brakes for varying wheel widths.
Good Question. 'Hope someone can answer.

I've searched and found people selling those Pave SLs for $250, but I assume that would be without the Speicialized warranty. New they are asking $525, which would get that lifetime warranty.
I have had mine for about 800 miles. They seem OK to me. Do you have any other suggestions for an extra set or wheels? What about Open Pros for the Tricross?

I have a set of Mavic CXP 33s that are like the Open Pros. They work fine as far as rolling :-). They are just alot narrower than the Pave SL wheels so I'd have to adjust the brakes when I switched wheels, which I'd prefer not to have to do.
just du it

I work part-time for a Specialized dealer and they have always been very good with warranty problems. The only thing is Specialized normally sends you to your local dealer to deal with the claim.

Read the language of the Roval "lifetime" warranty. It doesn't really mean "lifetime" unless you follow all the rules and die within a year. Here's an excerpt:
"Paint/finish, decals, etc. are covered under the limited one (1) year warranty. Wearable items including spokes and bearings are also limited to a (1) year warranty. All warranty claims are void if the wheel or wheelset was not purchased new or not properly assembled by an authorized Specialized dealer.
Useful Product Life Cycle Every Roval wheel has a useful product life cycle. The length of that useful product life cycle will vary with the construction and materials of the wheel or wheel set, the maintenance and care the wheel receives over its useful product life cycle, and the type and amount of use the wheel is subject to. Use in competitive events, trick riding, ramp riding, jumping, aggressive riding, riding on severe terrain, riding in severe climates, riding with heavy loads, commercial activities and other types of non-standard use can dramatically shorten the useful product life cycle of a Specialized Roval wheel that would not be covered by this warranty."
Spokes and bearings are deemed to have a one-year "lifetime" (unless you ride aggressively, in which case, they are deemed to have a shorter "lifetime")?
The "lifetime" warranty attracted me, too, at first. When you read it, though, it is completely meaningless. (And I see that as a serious negative against the brand.)
