I am interested in doing some overnighters to start with and maybe working into a tour. Presently I have a 2008 Kona Kula that I would like to set up. It has front suspension. Is there a pannier that would fit the front? I have an Axiom rack on the rear. Will I be able to get a taste of touring on this bike. I haven't been biking very long, haven't really had a bike since the early 60's. Now that I have some time and live in a good location I like to give it a shot.
Thanks

You can fit an Old Man Mountain (http://www.oldmanmountain.com) rack to the front of your bike without any issues. I use two OMM Cold Springs racks on my touring bikes and they don't have suspension - I just really like the racks a lot. They are nicely made in the US, strong light and will fit on any future bike you buy.

No problemo. I'd recommend some slick tires - maybe a 1.3" width or so for easier pedaling than the knobbies you probably have on it. Other than that you don't need to change anything else if you are comfortable on the bike.
