hey,
i bought some bar end shifters to install on my bike but lost the instructions and neither me or my boy can figure it out. they are shimano sl-bs50-8. does anyone have the directions for these laying around to scan, or can someone give me a step-by-step process of how to install them on a bike with downtube shifters? thanks so much!

not on the shimano website either - their doc archive didn;t have the docs for these (8 SPEED = OLDER?)

They appear simular to the 9/10 spd shifters.

Just use the 9/10 spd instructions for installation. My guess is the only difference would be the number of gears on the rear shifter. Front shift being friction would work on just about anything. Rear shifter if index is compatible with 8 spd ... friction mode would work with about anything.

If the Dura-Ace shifters are 8sp, they require either an 8sp Dura-ace derailleur (good luck!) or possibly an alternate cable routing. Look here for info:

Just one point to remember........when you have the levers off and you are placing the bar inserts into the bar, the screw tightens in the counterclockwise direction and loosens clockwise
