Apart from the usual online listings, does anyone know any good places to start looking for a used bike in Calgary? I'm moving to Calgary from Halifax today and although I'll be bringing my good road bike, I'm going to need something (preferably a vintage road bike) to get me to the university everyday.

There's a few good shops in Halifax but over time I've also gotten to know a few hobbyists who like to collect, restore, and sell old bikes but they don't tend to advertise. Otherwise if I can find a frame with a decent set of wheels I can easily take it from there.

goodlife bike co-op in eau claire market (downtown by the river). bikes are about $15 "as-is" with "as-is" being pretty bad. parts are pretty much $5 each and you can build it yourself with their guidance.

good price. rad people. interesting bikes.

Someone else told me about this place so I went down to check it out. I've spent the last three days there building a new bike that I am extremely happy with and spent about half of what I was expecting to pay. They sell some bikes for about $50 to $120 that they've fixed up themselves but there was nothing that fit me except one frame that wasn't built yet. Building a bike was a great experience. Some of the greasers are very knowledgeable while some aren't but everyone is very friendly.
