Winter Cycling - Mechanix Gloves

Hello all,

I've read some great reviews regarding these Mechanix Climate 2 gloves for outdoor work and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them as riding gloves. Also, I've seen them rated between 10-30* F, which of course is not factoring being on the bike at 7am in January. Nevertheless, my needs are between 30-50* F.

And finally, while the MSRP is $29, they can be found for as low as $14 online and thus this is why I'm posting.

I've been using the regular, uninsulated Mechanix gloves for years as riding gloves. They're well-fitted, unpadded, flat seamed, full-finger and give great feel. It's all about the fit! I'll bet those Climate 2s are pretty nice, too, and at $20 are a no-brainer.

The regular version (or equivalent brand) are great for spring and autumn riding. I'd give those a shot if I were in the market for gloves, although they probably aren't waterproof or resistant.

Where did you find them for $14? They look interesting.

I believe I'm going to go for them as my current winter glove system leaves quite a bit to be desired (like warmth). Here's hoping for the best..

saw a pair of similar gloves at ocean state joblots a few weeks ago and I thought at the time, hmmm, these might make nice winter riding gloves. Like a dummy I didn't buy them. I will go back soon and get them if they are still there. I think they were under 10 bucks.

One other thing. They were bright yellow, which is a bonus for winter (dark) riding.

Stupid warm,if it's not near freezing they're too warm for me. Can't vouch for the waterproof ability,since the only times I've worn them it was too cold for rain.

I use the same gloves rding in the winter as I wear at work. Albeit, new for riding (grease covered gloves on the bike is a no-no). I just wear unlined leather work gloves and when it gets really cold I wear those really tiny looking knit gloves. They look almost like they are made for a child's hand but really stretch.
