Okay, I've been in the market for a road bike with a triple for less than $1,000 (really hoping for something around $800). I stopped by the LBS yesterday to look at the Trek 1200, Specialized (Allez Sport), and Lemond Reno. I had pretty much decided on the Lemond Reno as I couldn't find anything in steel and with Campy components for under $1,000. It was just a matter of what size I needed. The salesman pulled down the Trek and was looking for my size in the Lemond when he said wait just a minute-he might have some clearance bikes from 2003. He came out with two bikes. A Lemond Tourmalet (Reynolds 853 main triangle) and a Specialized (Columbus Foco). The Lemond was a mixture of 105/Tiagra, while the Specialized was all 105. The Specialized was notably lighter and had nicer wheels, etc., but was $300 more. After getting each bike set up and after some consternation, I test road the Lemond and took it home for less than the new aluminum model. I'm a happy camper. :D

looks great! I like the straight bladed fork and graphics.
Tell us how it rides after you put some miles on her!

Thanks for the replies. It rides great. I took it our for 50 miles after leaving the shop. It is not quite the Pegoretti, but is tons better than the Schwinn it "replaces." It took a minute to get used to the different shifting compared to the Campy - but I'll get there. I am going to have to do some adjusting to the bars/shifters. I've got my Campy hoods kind of "straight out", or nearly level with the top of the bar, and don't know quite what to do (can't picture it yet) with these, as the hoods are shorter??
The bike handles very well, it is very predictable. It seems to have a slightly longer wheelbase than the Peg., and the handling is a bit slower in comparison. These qualities will all be welcome when riding with the trail-a-bike and for long solo rides.

Campy hoods are different than Shimano, but had them flat for a while. I put a shorter stem on the bike last week and rotated the bars so that the hoods point up a bit and so far, I like it. Gonna leave it like that for a few weeks and see if it sticks.
